On April 5, Wiltshire Police conducted a vehicle stop in Downton, resulting in the arrest of two men. The driver, aged 24, and the passenger, aged 19, were detained on suspicion of multiple offenses, including attempted theft, theft of tools, possession of an offensive weapon, and driving without valid insurance. Additionally, one of the individuals was wanted for failing to appear in court.
The vehicle was seized, and both suspects were taken into custody for further investigation. This operation was part of ongoing inquiries into a series of break-ins across rural areas of North Dorset, South West, and South East Wiltshire.
PCSO Murray 9001 commended the collaborative efforts of police forces in targeting cross-border criminal activity. He encouraged the public to report any suspicious behavior by contacting 101, or 999 in emergencies, noting that even minor details can significantly aid police efforts to prevent crime and apprehend offenders.
